Autumn Festival - Ana Beard Fernandez, soprano and Adrienne Black, piano

  • St. Andrew's Church Albert Road Reading, England, RG4 7PL United Kingdom (map)

By popular request, the irrepressible Ana returns to Caversham for a mixed programme of opera highlights, German and French song - something for everyone to enjoy.

Ana's varied programme will include a beautiful aria by Mozart, Schumann's poetic and moving song cycle - Frauen Liebe und Leben, cabaret songs by Britten, Kurt Weill and Dring,  and popular songs by Bernstein,  Bolcom, and Eric Satie.

Spanish-Mancunian soprano Ana Beard Fernández enjoys a career combining opera with oratorio, and consort singing with contemporary music. Recent performances include Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte (Fiordiligi) at Opera in Oborne, a Liederabend alongside Mark Padmore and Roddy Williams at St. Endellion Festival, Dido and Aeneas (Belinda/First Witch) at the Queen Silvia Concert Hall in Stockholm with Ensemble O/Modernt, appearances in Norway with Barroksolistene and i Fagiolini, Le Concert d'Astrée and Emmanuelle Haïm at Opéra de Lille in Handel's Semele, and Monteverdi Vespers at Cadogan Hall.

Last summer she sang 'Micaëla' for Longborough Opera Festival’s new production of Bizet’s Carmen, and also enjoyed portraying a very chavvy First Niece in Britten's Peter Grimes at the St. Endellion Festival, alongside late-night jazz with Ethan Iverson. Later this year she will sing Strauss' Four Last Songs and Brahms Requiem in St Alban's Abbey, Bach’s B Minor Mass with Florilegium in Salisbury Cathedral and Monteverdi Vespers with Huddersfield Choral Society - further information can be found on her website.

Ana grew up in Manchester and was a chorister at Manchester Cathedral. She studied at the University of York and the Royal College of Music, graduating with Distinction in 2020. In the same year she was a semi-finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Competition, and began studying with singing teacher Neil Baker.
